Big thank you for the 7 things you don’t know about blepharitis. It has given me a better understanding but still I’m left confused. It’s great to see a Australia doctor placing the facts on the web. Would love for you to answer my worries but if there is a fee please do not reply. Went to an eye specialist as I firstly received conjunctivitis from my kids. It wouldn’t go away and I went to another doctor who told me to place my head in a bucket of salty water every hr so did this for a day or two. It worsened I started getting anxiety badly worried I was going to give it to everyone so went to specialist and was told I had keratitis three weeks later on next appointment was told I had blepharitis he gave me a ointment siguent hycor 1% and told me to clean my eyes with lid care. He didn’t tell me much about the condition except that my tear ducts are producing oil and go and google blepharitis . Only the last couple of weeks my eys have been sore and itchy I also have had very oily skin all of a sudden ( never had before) I’m really confused and my anxiety is becoming worse again as I am so scared that this could be contagious and don’t want to give it to my children. So worried about cuddling into them and kissing them. So please can u tell me if it is contagious. Really worried about which blepharitis I have as I seem to have symptoms on each list. I also have bowl troubles, have had my Gould bladder out recently, have lots of allergies and my immune system I feel is quite low. My bottom eye lids on the inside are red. Eyes are very sore and sting to touch. Have white gunk build up in corner of eyes during the day and yellowish gunk in corner of eyes at night. I will often have blurred vision and my eyes and face feel itchy. My skin is very oily all of a sudden and my cheeks and nose are redish. Really don’t know what else I should be doing to treat this condition. I have bought fish oil tablets to take and was thinking of using heat on my eyes but not sure if it’s the right thing to do. Is it worth getting a second opinion was really upset that things have not been explained to me as the internet shows too many different things you don’t know what to belive. Most importantly need to know of contagious I am struggling to deal with this thought.
    Kind regards Kim Verheyen

      Hi Kim
Sounds like you might have rosacea, which is associated with blepharitis. The best procedure for the blepharitis is BlephEx and then you will need to see a skin specialist to work out if you have rosacea and what treatment is appropriate.

      Regards
